Japanese White Lychee Binchotan charcoal is a premium quality charcoal with a very high carbon percentage. Free from chemicals, it will burn cleanly and evenly for around 4.5 hours. Unlike other types of charcoal, it can be relit 2-3 times – perfect for anyone who likes to grill all summer long.

Binchotan is the charcoal of choice for Japanese barbecues. It is smokeless and odourless so it won’t overwhelm the flavours of your food. For this reason, it is ideal for preserving the complex, delicate flavours of Japanese cuisine. Fire up the grill and use this superior charcoal to cook fish and seafood, slices of aubergine marinated in miso and yakitori (Japanese chicken skewers)

Binchotan charcoal can be used on conventional barbecues and Shichirin tabletop grills.

How to light Binchotan charcoal:

Use a gas burner, which takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, first make a burning bed of softer charcoal, such as Acacia charcoal. Place the Binchotan coals diagonally on the charcoal bed and let them burn.
