Description

Otafuku Okonomiyaki Takoyaki powder is the secret to the moreish flavours of Japanese street food dishes of Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. This pre-seasoned flour adds the perfect balance of salty, savoury flavour to the batter for these two Japanese favourites, as well as any other batter or sauce. The addition of baking soda makes for the lightest texture while still achieving the perfect crispy savoury crust when fried.

Okonomiyaki is a traditional Japanese savoury pancake made with meat or vegetables (typically cabbage) and flavoured with dashi stock. This Otafuku powdered flour is ideal for enhancing the umami, salty notes of dashi and it is the key to achieving the pancake’s distinctive light, doughy texture but golden and crispy exterior.

Takoyaki are a fried octopus-filled dumpling which have the same balance of soft and crisp textures – cook your rich Otafuku batter in smaller balls for the perfect bite-sized snack.
