Description

This vegetarian stir-fry sauce with mushrooms, often also called vegetarian oyster sauce, is the perfect substitute for regular oyster sauce in Chinese cookery. Enhance food with the umami-rich soy and shiitake mushroom flavours of this sauce – perfect for stir fries, dipping sauces and glazes. 

Invert the bottle a few times before use to distribute the slivers of real shiitake mushroom throughout the sauce.

The vegetarian stir-fry sauce is made by Lee Kum Kee – a company founded by Lee Kam Sheung – the inventor of the original oyster sauce. The chef from Guangdong was cooking an oyster broth in 1888, when he accidentally let it caramelize, only to discover what delicious flavours it created. The company has continued to grow over four generations and has won several awards for the quality of its sauces.
