Description

Palm sugar is an essential ingredient in Southeast Asian cuisine. It has a mellow, caramel-like sweetness. You can use it to sweeten curries, dressings and desserts. 

The palm sugar discs can be sliced, chopped or grated. You can also add them whole to hot soups and curries. It dissolves quickly, adding sweetness to balance sour and spicy flavours.

Add palm sugar to Thai curries to tame their fiery heat. It’s ideal for sweetening stir fry sauces and making Asian desserts. For a special supper, try our recipe for perfect Pad Thai.

Palm sugar is an essential ingredient in prik nam pla. This Thai dipping sauce combines palm sugar with garlic, fish sauce, lime juice and bird’s eye chillies. It’s sweet, sour and spicy in equal measure. You can serve it with grilled meat and spring rolls.
